The brand new album from Sociograss, "Glee and Glutton" was released on 9th May 2026 on New Teeth Records.

Following on from the release of "Made It All Up", Sociograss were commisioned by American horror novelist, Michael Park, to produce music to be featured on audiobook releases of his writings and based on his themes. Park had written a trilogy of books set in Kentucky, each one featuring a recurring song. This comission was the "Kentucky Dragon E.P."

Spending 4 days and 4 nights at the studio; a rare opportunity that was only possible due to the generous resourcing of our commissioner, Sociograss were able not only to produce that E.P but also write, arrange and record this album of our own work - a mixture of original songs and tunes and some arrangements of songs of a  traditional origin.

Produced by Robin Wynn Evans at Tpot Studio in September last year this is our very best work yet and we are very proud to put it out into the world. 

Available on CD, streaming platforms and soon to be released on 12" vinyl.

A commissioned collaboration between the Scottish band, Sociograss and American author, Michael Park, the Kentucky Dragon EP takes its name from Park's 2025 horror trilogy, which features all three songs.

Two of the tracks, "Barbara Allen" and "Blackleg Miner," are traditional songs with very different stories to tell. The first is an ancient parable of abandoned love; the second, a rallying cry for worker solidarity. The third track, "The Red March," is entirely original, with lyrics by Park and music by Sociograss. All three songs tap into the unsettling horror of Michael Park's novels through the arrangement and inspiration of Sociograss.

Sociograss have always made it all up as they went along... Since exploding onto the Scottish roots and folk scene back in 2019 Sociograss has been succeeding in championing a genre-scape that is little heard north of the border. Starting out in a grassroots music scene with little but the records of days gone by to inform the sound, what choice did they have but to make it all up... and so they did. This album reflects back on their journey all the way from conception. Come along for the ride!
